Do you ever ask yourselves “what if” you hadn’t done something you did? Would the present be this way?
This is the question that seems to torment the London quartet ISLAND, in their song Spotless Mind, a perfect alternative-ambient track that could easily be played in a stadium with an enormous choir of people.
It is a song that leaves your bones crushed, and yourselves gasping for air.
“What if I never asked you your name? Would I be this way?”
Existential questions pervade the chorus accompanied by the electrifying voice of the singer Rollo Doherty and the drums that seem to grow the tension imitating everyone’s heartbeat played by Toby Richards. The guitars are also an important part of this tune, played by the lead singer and Jack Raeder, and the bass player James Wolfe.
It is a song for self-reflection, kept inside the beauty of lyrics and relatable sounds.
I hope you could find yourself in this song,
always spread love xx
